Harvest Manitoba is committed to addressing food insecurity and poverty within our province. To shed light on the profound real-world impact of these issues in Manitoba, we surveyed communities from May to September 2025 to better understand why people access food banks.
Key Findings:
-
The average household size increased from 2 to 2.9 people per household.
- Those with at least some post-secondary education increased from one-third (33%) to two-thirds of clients (61%).
- Families with children under the age of 18 years of age have increased from 32% to 45%.
- 62% of families go hungry once a month or more because they can not afford food.
Harvest Voices 2025 amplifies the voices of Manitobans relying on our food banks. This report is a call to action that provides recommendations for the government and the public to help us fight food insecurity and ensure that no Manitoban goes hungry.
